Individual employee url’s – How?

admin on May 2nd, 2010

I want to issue each of my employees their own url to use when they are sending email marketing, social media or other incidences where they may have the ability to drive some traffic back to my company. ie. http://employeeID.mycompany.com
The reason is I want to be able to track which of my employees is driving traffic and reward them appropriately.

Any ideas on how to set something like this up?

Better to set up individual emails using employee ID numbers: 12345467@domain.com or however you ID them. If you have a proper hosting site for your company, it should allow unlimited email accounts. Each person can have their own login info and you would have the one for all.

We are on the verge of launching a website that will provide quality information on various diseases and alternate remedies available for them. The content is professionally written and unique.

As the marketing budget is a little tight right now, we are unable to decide on 2 fronts

1) We go for outsourcing SEO services or SMO services. (Actually, we will be interested in knowing if SMO will be of any help with regards to the content (health, diseases based) on our website) or SEO is the way to go, OR
2) Should we outsource SEO (If that has to be outsourced as none of us have an experience in that) and do the SMO ourselves by getting as much information on it as possible. We don’t know much about SMO either, except for a little bit knowledge of how a facebook or squidoo works.

Thanks

We will be selling products…actually dropshipping someone elses…a whole gammut of them

BTW I thought SMO is quicker in getting results than SEO

Hi there,

If this is a new website there are lots of things you can do yourselves to get visitors to your site quickly and cheaply.

Your site should have had SEO capabilities built into it (did you do this yourself?). I’d say that SMO will take longer to generate visitors so I would concentrate on SEO.

A lot of companies will actually do SEO on a per results basis – see if you can get a company to agree to this. Those customers should be converting into revenue for you, so you will be able to pay the SEO bill!!

What is the actual revenue stream though? It doesn’t sound like you are selling anything, simply trying to build traffic?

Half my favorite (established) authors don’t use it and sell very well. Of course, they’re established. There are fans, even, who create Facebook "fan pages" for them.

How much time should an aspiring author give to personally promoting their work, and how much time should be spent actually writing?

What authors have you seen use it effectively? Has the use of social media by authors influenced your book purchases? If an author reveals too much about him-/herself via their online social marketing activities, does it turn you off from buying their books?

"How much time should an aspiring author give to personally promoting their work, and how much time should be spent actually writing?"

That suggests that you expect them to be writing ALL the time. Many people can do their professions well while still being very active on social networking. Writers are no different. They simply can’t spend every waking hour writing their next novel, even if it’s a much-anticipated novel that fans are waiting for.

I’ve seen Neil Gaiman and John Green do fabulous jobs of maintaining their social media presence, especially on Twitter.

I don’t necessarily want to hear them ONLY talk about their work, but their work is the reason I follow them… so i want to know where they’re planning on doing book signings, how their current book is progressing through the publication process, etc. I also like when they link to reviews of their books. But I don’t want to hear them praise themselves to no end, etc.

Many writers often also have a blog, and I like when they give out links to their newest blog posts.

It has never turned me off from buying a book, reading authors on social media. Often they post recommendations for other books that you may enjoy if you like their books, and I’ve read quite a few books I hadn’t known about, because of their recommendations.

Aspiring authors should balance social media activities with personal info and professional info. Of course, if you’re only an aspiring author and not a published author, it’s unlikely you will have fans following you just yet because of your work.

Hope that helps answer your question!

YouTube and Facebook, popular social networking media sites, have revolutionised the way that people communicate with each other. Analyse how a Marketing Manager at Company X can use this technology to develop a deeper connection with her target audiences.

First and foremost, an excellent marketing manager would need to have a solid product or service knowledge that he wants to sell to his target audience. Once he does this, he can use this sites to be able to greatly segmentize his target market. If lets say you are a marketing manager of a pharma product, say you are selling vitamins, these sites can help you find out what sort of characteristics of people, wether they like to be energise, always on the go; their gender, and lifestyle. From these information, they will be able to customize they marketing strategy. and the list goes on.
